What to Expect at Your First Pelvic Floor Therapy Appointment
Not sure what your first appointment will involve? This guide explains the evaluation process, what to expect, and how we prioritize comfort, privacy, and consent.
Starting pelvic floor therapy can feel intimidating—especially if you don’t know what to expect. Understanding the process can help ease anxiety and make your first visit feel more comfortable.
Your initial appointment typically begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, medical history, and goals. Your therapist may assess posture, breathing, movement patterns, and core function. Everything is done privately and at your pace.
Internal exams are never required. If recommended, they are always optional and discussed thoroughly before proceeding. Your comfort and consent are always the priority.
By the end of your visit, you’ll have a clearer understanding of what’s happening in your body and a personalized plan to support recovery, strength, and confidence.
